Description
Circuit breakers are used in medium-voltage switchboards at voltage levels of 12/24/36 kV. These electrical switches are available in two types: vacuum and SF6 gas. They are used to interrupt or connect electrical current under abnormal conditions (such as overload or short circuit) with the help of a protection relay. These circuit breakers lack current protection and a separate protection relay must be used to protect the medium-voltage feeders and send tripping commands to the circuit breaker when necessary.
